Dr. Kayihura M. Didas, the Rector of the Institute of Legal Practice and Development pronounced this during the official opening of the second intake of DLP weekend program at Musanze on Saturday 8th September 2018 at the National Police College, Musanze.
The opening of this program at Musanze by ILPD was due to the requests by the lawyers who work in and around the Northern and parts of Western Provinces who find it difficult to travel to Nyanza or Kigali due to the long distance from their places of work.
During this induction ceremony, Staff members from the Registry, the library, Academic Dean and the Vice Rector in charge of Administration and Finance explained in details about ILPD and what is needed to complete the course. It is expected to have a class more than 25 for this particular intake. The representative of the NPC, SSP Modeste BISANGWA in his remarks on behalf of NPA, thanked ILPD for having chosen their college as a partner in enhancing professionalism into practitioners and he reiterated their Institution’s commitment to cooperation with not only the ILPD management but also with the students while on the campus premises. He also requested for the same from the ILPD family so that the two may live in total harmony.
In his remarks, the Rector called upon students to behave professionally, to be committed and to try and embrace hard work to achieve success. He also encouraged them to always be guided by the spirit and attitude of possibility towards everything. He argued them to consider research as part and parcel of their daily life because a lawyer does not research does not qualify to be referred to as a lawyer.
